The hardest problems in digital health aren't technical — they're human.

For nearly 30 years, Patty Mechael has worked at the intersection of technology, values, and organizational change — advising governments, international organizations, and private sector partners on building systems that actually serve people. Her work is grounded in one conviction: that technology is only as powerful as the human values encoded in it.

As co-founder and CEO of health.enabled, Patty has spent more than a decade building the enablers that countries and organizations need to scale digital health responsibly — from national strategy and governance to gender-intentional design and AI readiness.

Through the Global Digital Health Monitor, now adopted by WHO as part of the Global Initiative on Digital Health, health.enabled has engaged more than 80 countries and contributed to measurable gains in digital maturity. Twelve large-scale research studies, 14 peer-reviewed publications, and more than 40 technical briefs — cited over 400 times — have helped build the evidence base the field needs.

Patty advises government, non-government, and industry partners globally on how digital technology and AI can be leveraged responsibly to transform health and well-being — always with a gender-intentional lens, and always asking how technology itself can be made healthier.
